Great recent experience at Blue Ribbon Brasserie, Soho, latenight after stopping first at Blue Ribbon Sushi for a bite a few doors down. I was quite surprised by the late night activity and vibe at the Brasserie. Think this might become one of my new late- night hangs. Felt very local to me. Not touristy. As we had just finished sushi, we just had a few apps and drinks. I had a friend in town stay at the Soho Grand. This was one of the few places we found to grab a late night bite. Everything was perfect.
We have reservations for 845 but we didn't get seated till nine. The restaurant was really small inside. I was annoyed. It took so long to get seated, but they kindly offered us a drink while they got our table ready. Luckily the food was delicious. that's why I gave it four stars. The catfish and the skate dinners were amazing. Everything was seasoned well, very flavorful. I do plan to go back because I really want to try the fried chicken and I definitely need something off the dessert menu.
Blue Ribbon Brasserie has quickly become my new favorite restaurant in SoHo, and it's easy to see why. The food is absolutely incredible--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Every dish we tried was a home run, from the crispy fried chicken with just the right amount of crunch and seasoning to the sweet and spicy catfish that balanced flavors so beautifully. The calamari is also a must-try--make sure to ask for it fried; it's extra delicious. I wish I had more pictures, but I'm always too busy gobbling everything up the moment it hits the table--it's just that good! If you're lucky enough to visit when the ceviche or lobster rolls are available, don't miss out--they're a special treat that takes the experience to another level. The service is impeccable as well--attentive and friendly without being overbearing. A special shout-out to Victor, who always puts a smile on my face and makes every visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance is cozy and inviting with an upscale vibe. Do your best to make reservations ahead of time as it can be hard (although not impossible) to get fit in as a walk in. Blue Ribbon Brasserie is the perfect spot for a memorable meal, whether you're celebrating something special or just looking for a fantastic dinner. Every bite feels like a treat, and I can't wait to return!
MY STAR RATING 0-5 Service: 4 Food: 5 Space/Ambiance: 3 Price/Value: 3 Just so we're clear on my rating. I rate as 3 stars being average and we go up and down from there based on the whole experience, not just the food. If I'm giving a 5 star review it's because the experience was exceptionally above average from start to end and everything in between. Blue Ribbon (BR) Brasserie has always been one of my favorite late night haunts as it's open late so if you have chef friends they can join you for a meal and they appreciate the fact that BR's food is always exceptional. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal or service here! I have a few go to things I always want. 1) Sweetbreads (they don't have them now) 2) Sautéed Calamari 3) Sardines (they don't have them now) 4) Bone Marrow The menu changes & last time I was there the sardines were not an option (insert sad clown face here) but the calamari was as was the hanger steak so we opted for that and the onion soup. The onion soup is tasty but for $19 I could skip it. The price just seems a tad steep for the soup we had. It's not like it's a pho which takes time and effort to create. Onion soup is simple and the price should reflect that - just my two cents. The calamari was fantastic as always. Tender and perfectly cooked! My favorite thing is to sop up the juices left in the bowl with the bread after we finish devouring them. The hanger steak with fries was cooked to perfection. Nothing worse than an over cooked steak & this was medium rare as ordered. The fries were crispy & seasoned well. If you like dirty martinis - they have a great one. I usually get mine with Tito's vodka but I'm sure if you like Gin it's also equally flavorful. Additionally they have a nice wine selection. In short, if you have a late night out planned you should definitely stop over at BR for a fabulous meal and some interesting people watching as many of NYs chefs also like to frequent this restaurant after theirs has closed for the night.
NYC is known for their food scene. If you're a foodie, NYC will leave you full, in awe, and in love every time. SoHo is my stomping grounds when in NYC. There are so many places to eat but if I'm limited on time, I have a hand full of go-to's. You can find the best restaurants who are so deserving of Michelin stars throughout the big apple. Blue Ribbon is one of those restaurants. Quaint, yet charming. Come as you are. Perfect for day trips where you are casual. Service is always stellar. Thank you Isa. Food: Beef Marrow and Oxtail Marmalade is one dish that you MUST try! The combination of the oxtail marmalade and marrow are delicious. Rack of Lamb is a must, served with mashed potatoes. Exceptional plating, bursting with flavor, order this medium well. Catfish, also served with mash potatoes and collard greens. This is served pan seared. Flavors are profound. Dessert: Creme Brûlée - Perfection Blue Ribbon has a pretty good selection of wine. I opted for the 2018 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine George's. I love a white wine and although usually paired with oysters it was perfect with the catfish. Beautiful in color, gold, aromas were fantastic, citrus on the nose. On the palate, dry, clean, crisp. Legs were amazing, once it opened up it was perfect! Highly recommend this treasure in my beloved West Village and SoHo stomping ground! Thank me later! Ratings are high, obviously for reason.
What a lovely place. They had table ready for our reservation. The staff is very friendly. Food came out quick and it was great. Truly a lovely experience. Great place for a date night or a small group. A bit disappointed with our server, she did not seem happy with us. Not sure why.
Blue Ribbon Basserie- is a true gem. It is a small quaint upscale restaurant. Behind the thick velvet red curtain lies a bar, and restaurant that will definitely take you by surprise. I asked myself, why hadn't I been here sooner. If you're in the mood to splurge, and treat yourself, try the Blue Ribbon Royale. Which consists of the finest Kaluga caviar, lobster, raw clams, oysters, shrimp cocktail, crab cocktail, and 2 shots of premium vodka... The fried chicken was the healthiest fried chicken I have ever had, mashed potatoes were amazing. This hidden gem is in the heart of SoHo. The staff are equally amazing as is the food!
Ambiance is always low key and chill no matter how packed this place gets the vibe is always chill and never rushed.. as many places in city are crammed this one is no exception. After being say in between two dinner parties along the benches we felt smothered and opted for seats at the bar. Ofc, the chicken is worth it all. Its almost a crime to eat here and not have the crispy seasoned to perfection chicken drizzled with hot honey!!! 10/10 recommend! Enjoy
